The Garland Square, photographed toward the southeast ca. 1906, hosted farm visitors from miles in every direction as they arrived for business with local banks and merchants. Several of the structures shown survive, as does the M. D. Williams enterprise,which evolved from a general merchandise store into a funeral home.
