A biplane of “Curtiss-pusher” design intrigues locals in the stand at the Garland Horse Track ca. 1913. A rear-facing engine and prop sat behind the flier’s seat, occupied here by Dave Smith, a partner in the track. Aeroplanes of this type set many early flying records and were among the world’s first to be produced in any quantity.
