George Newman Home

Dr. George W. Newman’s house stood north of Katy rails across the street from the school athletic field, which was first succeeded by Craddock’s pickle factory, then by Garland’s present Main Post Office. Born in the Pleasant Valley community, where his family had settled in 1856, Dr. Newman graduated from Tulane University’s medical school in 1888.
