The Garland High School Band, led by majorette Martha Tucker, marched with others in the 1941 Armistice Day Parade in Dallas. At 11 o'clock on the 11th day of the 11th month the bands paused while one trumpet player in each played taps; then the parade continued. Vergil Moody directed the band.
