The Daniel Bechtol home, built in the 1890s, anchored 310 acres fronting on the south side of present Kingsley Road between Duck Creek and Saturn Road. As with many houses of that day, rain water was captured from gutters on the house for storage in a cistern. This supplemented what the family could pump from a well.
