Bankhead Station

Bankhead Station began life as Head’s Humble Service Station. Shown when near its opening in September 1948, the structure featured washing, lubrication and light mechanical bays on the front. In three tall service bays on the building’s east side employees washed commercial trucks for Garland’s new Kraft Food plant. Owner A. J. Head’s family lived upstairs.
