Garland’s cyclone of May 9, 1927 wreaked unprecedented havoc as it moved northeast through town.  Damage was especially severe either side of the 800-1100 blocks of Austin St. This vintage press photo from that neighborhood was titled “Rags on Guard at Garland, Texas After the Storm.” Wonder if the survivor dog’s name was really Rags?
